Prerequisites / Eligibility
Thank you for your interest in joining the IB Diploma Programme at Teikyo-Kani!
- To begin, please ensure you fulfill all conditions below.
Age and Education
Applicants must:
- have at least 9 years of formal schooling or the equivalent academic achievement of a 3rd year (Grade 9) Japanese junior high school student
- provide records or transcripts that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement
English Ability
Students should have an English ability level equivalent to the recommended scores below:
- TOEIC
- 700 or above (/990)
- TOEFL iBT
- 50 or above (/120)
- TOEFL ITP
- 400 (top = 600+)
- IELTS
- 4.5 or above (/9)
- CEFR
- B1 or above (top = C2)
- Eiken
- Pre1 or above (top = 1)
AND
- Students should be deemed able to communicate in English at a sufficient level for the IBDP. (Based on the performance in their oral interview and, if necessary, a short essay.)
Legal and Financial Standing
Applicants must:
- not have a criminal record
- comply with Japanese law and Teikyo University Kani High School's dress code and policies (no tattoos, dyed hair, or piercings)
- have a means of paying for tuition and living expenses (guarantor or financial sponsor)
Motive and Attitude
Applicants should be able to demonstrate :
- qualities of leadership, independence, and maturity
- passion for studying and living in Japan and learning Japanese
- clear goals or purpose for undertaking the IB Programme
- evidence of having considered what it means to commit 3 years to live abroad, as well as their plans to be successful in the programme
